Portsmouth (N.H.) ties national win streak record

by PR/Wire Report/

The Portsmouth (N.H.) High School baseball team defeated Sanborn on Monday, tying the national record for consecutive wins with 75.

The win, which was awarded to Portsmouth when the game was called with one out in the sixth inning due to the wet conditions, gives PHS a 12-0 Division II record in 2011.

The Clippers matched the national win streak record set by Homer (Mich.) High School from 2004-2005.

Keegan Taylor, who will pitch for Northeastern University next year, earned the win by limiting Sanborn to two hits while striking out nine.

Portsmouth will have a chance to break the national record for consecutive wins when the Clippers travel to face Pembroke Academy on Wednesday.
