Navigators sweep NECBL weekly awards

by PR/Wire Report/

The North Shore Navigators, the defending New England Collegiate Baseball League champions, swept the league’s first weekly awards.
Outfielder Dario Pizzano (Saugus, Mass.) was named Player of the Week, while Michael Johnson (Georgetown, Mass.) was named Pitcher of the Week.

Pizzano (Columbia University) reached base in his first seven plate appearances of the season, including a strong showing against Newport with two doubles and four RBI.

A two-time, first team all-Ivy League selection, Pizzano hit .359 with nine homers while leading Columbia in virtually every offensive category this season.

Johnson (Dartmouth College) was the winning pitcher in a victory over Newport, striking out seven in five shutout innings, yielding just three base runners.

Johnson was 3-0 with a 4.39 ERA this season for Dartmouth.
