NECBL announces weekly honors

The New England Collegiate Baseball League has named its players of the week, with Francis Whitten (Westborough, Mass.) and Nick Neumann (Middletown, Conn.) honored.
Whitten (University of Maine), a catcher for Old Orchard Beach, hit .438 for the week, slugging two homers, three doubles and knocking in seven to earn Player of the Week honors.
Neumann (Central Connecticut State), a right-handed pitcher for Keene, threw eight shutout innings in Keene’s 2-0 blanking of North Shore on June 25. He struck out nine, walked none and scattered just two hits. Neumann has allowed just one earned run in 12 NECBL innings this summer.
