Rhode Island's Evan Marzilli helped South Carolina win back-to-back national titles with Tuesday's 5-1 win over Florida.

Rhode Island native Evan Marzilli and the University of South Carolina baseball team defeated Florida in Game 2 of the College World Series championship series on Tuesday night to repeat as NCAA Division 1 champions.

Marzilli (Cranston, R.I.) was 1-for-2 with a run scored as South Carolina defeated Florida 5-2 on Tuesday to clinch its back-to-back title.

In Game 1 on Monday, a 2-1 South Carolina win in 11 innings, Marzilli was held hitless.

South Carolina entered the tournament as the No. 4 national seed and won five straight games to capture the national title.

The Gamecocks have now established NCAA records with 16 consecutive postseason wins and 11 consecutive wins in the College World Series.
