Cape League players earn awards

by PR/Wire Report/

Wareham left-hander Joshua Turley (Baylor) has been named Cape Cod Baseball League Pitcher of the Week, while Cotuit outfielder Victor Roache (Georgia Southern) is Player of the Week.

Turley recorded two masterful performances to capture this week’s Pitcher of the Week award. In his two starts, Turley surrendered just three hits and one run over 12 innings. He struck out more than a batter per inning, recording 13 strikeouts week while walking just two.

After a rough first outing of the season, Turley has given up only two runs in four starts. His 1-1 record last week has him at 3-1 on the season, with a 2.03 earned run average.

Roache captured his second Player of the Week. The outfielder is the Cape League’s most dangerous hitter, ranking second in the league in both batting average (.367) and home runs (five), while leading the league in RBI (24).

Roache added a home run and eight runs batted in to his totals over the course of six games last week, and failed to record a hit in just one game. His week was highlighted by a 2-for-4 performance against Yarmouth-Dennis, in which he homered, drove in four runs and scored twice.
