Moscot, Phillips earn Cape League honors

by PR/Wire Report/

Hyannis pitcher Jon Moscot and Chatham catcher Dane Phillips have been named Cape Cod Baseball League Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively.

Moscot (Pepperdine) was named Pitcher of the Week after allowing no earned runs in a win over Cotuit last week. Moscot scattered seven hits over seven innings and allowed only an unearned run.

Moscot was able to shut down the Cape League’s premier hitter, Victor Roache (Georgia Southern), striking him out twice and not allowing Roache to reach base in four plate attempts.

Moscot has a 3.29 earned run average this summer. He is 2-3 and has struck out 40 in 38.1 innings pitched.

Dane Phillips (Oklahoma State) recorded three multi-hit games last week, reached base at least once in each of his seven games, and recorded a hit in all but one. He also homered twice and drove in eight runs.

Phillips is hitting .317 with four home runs this summer.
