East wins Cape Cod All-Star Game

by PR/Wire Report/

The East All-Stars won Friday night’s Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game at Fenway Park, defeating their West counterparts, 4-1.

The West took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Bourne’s Travis Jankowski (Stony Brook) singled and later scored on an error.

The East took a lead it wouldn’t relinquish in the second inning, scoring a pair of runs. Yarmouth-Dennis’ Stephen Piscotty (Stanford) reached on an infield single and teammate Mason Katz (LSU) doubled to drive in Piscotty. The throw home was high and the ensuing throw to third in an attempt to get Katz was wide, allowing Katz to score.

The East made it 3-1 in the third as Brewster’s Ryan Jones (Michigan State) singled, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Brewser’s Jason Monda (Washington State).

Yarmouth-Dennis’ James Ramsey (Florida State) was named the East MVP, while Hyannis’ Eric Stamets (Evansville) was the West MVP.

Harwich’s Taylor Rogers (Kentucky) earned the win, with Orleans’ Trevor Gott (Kentucky) picking up the save.

Chatham’s Richie Shaffer (Clemson) won the annual Home Run Derby.
