Eberle, Bordonaro grab NECBL awards

Holyoke third baseman Sam Eberle (Jacksonville State) and Mystic pitcher Mark Bordonaro (Fairfield University) have been named New England Collegiate Baseball League Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
Eberle drove in 15 runs for the Blue Sox last week. He also homered twice and doubled twice en route to hitting .500 (9-for-18) on the week.
Bordonaro (Berlin, Conn.) threw four innings of shutout ball and allowed just one base runner in Mystic’s July 24 win over Danbury. Bordonaro got the win and struck out six.
Bordonaro has a 1.78 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 25.1 innings of work this summer.
