Ed Poland Jr., the former associate head coach of the St. Michael's College baseball program, has been named head baseball coach at Lyndon State College.
Poland, a native Essex Junction Vt., has been active in baseball for more than 25 years in several capacities. As a head coach at the junior varsity, varsity and collegiate level, he has compiled a career record of 209-54 for a winning percentage of .795.
In addition to his responsibilities with the Purple Knight program, Poland has been a member of the Vermont Baseball Coaches Association for 25 years and also holds membership in World Baseball Coaches Association.
"I am honored to be named the head baseball coach at Lyndon State College," said Poland. "My goals will be simple and straight forward. We want to become a consistent, competitive baseball program year in and year out within the North Eastern Athletic Conference East Division. This will require a lot of hard work through developing the talent that is here now and the constant recruiting of talented student-athletes in the future.
"I will constantly follow the baseball talent throughout New England and New York to bring the best student-athletes to Lyndon State College," he continued. "When opposing teams play Lyndon State, they will have to face with one of the best fundamentally-sound programs in the NEAC East every year."
