Behind Winkel and Nolan, Amity aims to regain title

The end of last season was full of surprises in the Nutmeg State.

A new Class LL team stepped into the winner’s circle in 2017 as Staples — led by current North Carolina freshman Ben Casparius and junior Chad Knight — ended Amity’s four-year championship reign. Despite seeing their title-winning streak come to an end, it’s safe to expect the Spartans to compete again as Pat Winkel (UConn) and Jack Nolan lead a talented club.
