Following a long weekend of baseball -- and then some -- through the raindrops, NCAA tournament regional play has concluded and the College World Series fields are set at both the Division 2 and 3 levels.

When the first pitches are thrown in Cary, N.C., and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, later this week, two familiar teams will be representing New England at the ultimate destinations of the season in hopes of bringing national championship trophies back to the region.

The D2 East Regional bracket saw the wire-to-wire top team finish the job and advance to the World Series for the third time, while the region’s D3 slate featured teams competing at three different regional sites with another veteran club coming out on top of a six-team tournament played on home turf in Hartford, Conn.

As seasons come to an end, NEBJ takes a look back at the action from the past week for the region’s two regional champions and other news and notes from the diamond.
