This past week’s results changed just one team in New England Baseball Journal’s Division 1 Top 10, but there is a team taking the No. 1 spot for the first time this season.
Bryant swept Northeast Conference foe Central Connecticut prior to the Easter holiday and saw its offensive numbers jump up among the nation’s best. Among other categories, the Bulldogs rank second nationally in runs, hits, and home runs following a 4-1 week that included their third consecutive weekend series sweep.
No other teams in the rankings moved up or down more than one position, though a Baseball Beanpot championship and two more in-region wins had UMass right on the brink of contention. Harvard remains the region’s No. 3 team entering a crucial series this weekend, but one of its Ivy League rivals jumps back into the ranks after an impressive road sweep of its own.
