As the month of May reaches its second weekend, the playoff races continue to take center stage throughout New England Division 1 baseball.
The upcoming week features a bit of a lighter slate than usual, but with the playoff matchups already determined in both the Ivy and Patriot Leagues. Harvard will have this week in advance of next weekend’s Ivy League Playoff Series to be held in Cambridge, while Holy Cross will be the Patriot’s No. 2 seed and host a best-of-three semifinal set this weekend.
Despite a pair of recent Bryant losses, the top two teams in New England continue their run at the top. Boston College makes a jump up the ranks after a busy week filled with wins. Quinnipiac’s fate is also the same after a thrilling finish to its MAAC weekend.
Though the number of games to be played this coming weekend is a bit smaller, that doesn’t take away from the significance of many. A pair of in-region, in-conference series await as Rhode Island hosts Atlantic-10 rival UMass and Fairfield meets Quinnipiac in a MAAC series.
