Giants’ injuries create roller-coaster week

By Dan GuttenplanApril 1, 2018

Auburn, Mass., native Tyler Beede was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on March 19 after falling short in a competition for the role of San Francisco Giants’ fifth starter.

Beede struggled in spring training, posting a 10.80 ERA in 8⅓ innings. The 24-year-old right-hander then received word later that week that he was again being considered for a spot in the big-league rotation due to injuries to Madison Bumgarner (hand) and Jeff Samardzija (chest).

Beede, a Lawrence Academy alumnus and former Vanderbilt University national champion, shared his thoughts on the whirlwind week.
