Harvard Roars Back for Beanpot Title, Readies for Heat of Ivy Play

It looked like Wednesday’s Baseball Beanpot Championship at Friedman Diamond was going to be one of those games through the first three innings.

Behind the second grand slam in as many Beanpot contests off the bat of sophomore designated hitter Kyle Peterson (Brockton, Mass.), Northeastern posted a six-run first inning before Harvard responded with two runs in the second inning and six of its own in the third.

But as it turned out, pitching ruled the rest of the day as junior John MacLean and sophomore Kieran Shaw relieved junior Kevin Stone (Stamford, Conn.) with four combined scoreless innings to lift the Crimson past an 18-win Northeastern club, 8-6.
