ANDOVER, Mass. – All it took was one inning for Andover.
The Golden Warriors did all their damage in the bottom of the fifth in a big 3-0, Merrimack Valley Conference win over rival North Andover. On the mound, senior left-hander Chris Jaillet was sharp from the start, throwing a complete game shutout.
Matt DeFeo got it started when he legged out an infield single and stole second. After advancing to third on a fielder's choice, the speedster took home on a passed ball to open the scoring.
Jaillet helped himself out with a single that took a perfect bounce at third, and Teddy Gibson kept the momentum going with a single to right. Sean Napolitano made it 2-0 with an RBI single, and Alex Berman drove in Gibson on a fielder's choice for the 3-0 lead.
From there, Jaillet continued to lock it down on the mound. He struck out four of the next eight batters, including three K's in the top of the sixth, to finish the win.
Let's dive into eight standouts from the game.
