The 2019 MLB draft class is considered weaker than normal among New England prospects, with no player creating buzz as a potential first-round selection.
However, the 2019 class recently received a boost when Perfect Game’s top 2020 prospect and Portland, Maine, native Trejyn Fletcher transferred to Deering Academy, reclassified to 2019, and successfully petitioned MLB to enter this year’s draft class.
Now, there is a chance at least one New Englander could be selected on Day 1 of the MLB draft Monday.
