Just a few months ago, the 2018 MLB draft class seemed laden with highend New England prospects — players capable of going in the top two rounds and earning upwards of seven-figure signing bonuses.
Due to some poor timing and a lack of recent luck for several players, the first two rounds of the MLB draft didn’t yield much action around New England.
Bedford, N.H., native Grant Lavigne was at the top of the class, earning a selection by the Colorado Rockies as the 42nd overall pick and a $2 million signing bonus, but no other player received an offer of more than $1 million to go pro.
