While Harvard sat on its first Ivy League championship since 2005 for the past week, the rest of New England’s Division 1 baseball teams sought to join them in the NCAA Tournament.
Two teams from the state of Connecticut did exactly that and proved that games are not played on paper for a reason, taking down a regional rival and No. 1 seed during their respective conference tournaments. Quinnipiac finished its first-ever MAAC championship run with a 13-inning thriller, while Central Connecticut State came out of the Northeast Conference loser’s bracket to take the title.
UConn advanced to its second straight American Athletic Conference finale, while Boston College moved right to the edge of the NCAA at-large bubble with a pair of Atlantic Coast Conference tournament wins, surpassing the 30 plateau for the season.
