As the prep school baseball season rounds the final turn, Suffield Academy and Phillips Exeter claimed hardware this weekend.
Suffield (14-0) edged past Salisbury (11-5), 2-0, to claim the WNEPBL tournament crown on Sunday. Starting pitcher and Georgetown University commit Carter Cousins tossed seven solid innings, allowing just three hits and striking out five.
“Carter was the story of the game,” said Suffield head coach Bryan Brissette. “We leaned on his pitching and solid defense to get the win on a day when both pitchers were dealing. The team made the commitment his spring to not only be special, but to be champions as well.
"I couldn’t be prouder of them all.”
