Lawrence Academy has been one of the preeminent teams within the ultra-competitive ISL (Independent School League) since head coach Chris Margraf arrived in 1997. When it comes to recruiting, Margraf leaves no stone unturned in his pursuit of finding the right fit for his program.
A native of Keene, N.H., Margraf has never strayed from his roots. He continues to perpetuate a pipeline into the Granite State. Among some of the successful New Hampshire players Margraf has brought to the Groton, Mass., campus include Logan Gillis, Liam Yardley, Brayden Ryan, Keagan Ryan, Joe Napolitano, and Jack McLaughlin.
But it hasn't stopped there. Senior twin brothers Otto and Ted McLaughlin have followed in the footsteps of older brother Jack (now a sophomore pitcher at Tufts University). They came to Lawrence as freshmen. Hailing from Peterborough, N.H., the McLaughlins are both multi-sport athletes as members of the Spartans varsity hockey team.
Ted, Otto, and Jack all grew up in a hockey household. Their father, Peter, was a defenseman first at Belmont Hill and went on to play for Harvard University, helping the Crimson win a Beanpot title in 1993. He briefly spent time in the ECHL, IHL, and CoHL, and served as assistant coach at Franklin Pierce University.
