The weather may still not be all that favorable, but a large number of prep programs were finally able to sneak in a few games this past week.
Starting to catch up with their schedules, a majority returned well rested as they prepare for a tumultuous homestretch that could make or break their seasons.
Deerfield Academy junior pitcher Henry Gustavson was in complete control of Cushing Academy (1-11) last week, no-hitting the Penguins, 6-0. Gustavson struck out two and walked none. Offensively, Deerfield (8-4) was led by David Thomas, who had three hits and an RBI. Javier Irizarry and Max Stevens both drove in a run.
“Henry’s tireless work ethic has paid off for him," said Big Green head coach Pat Moriarty. "He has been dialed in for every outing this year. Against Cushing, Henry had total command of all four pitches, with plus velocity and great differential with his change-up."
