What Winchendon School senior pitcher Jake Gigliotti was able to accomplish this past week was nothing short of astonishing.
Facing Tilton School, Gigliotti pitched five innings of no-hit ball as the Wapitis cruised past the Rams, 17-3. But what made Gigliotti's performance even more spectacular is that the Auburn, Mass. senior struck out all 15 batters he faced.
Gigliotti has been receiving interest from a number of Division 1 programs, including Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Penn State, and Iowa.
"Jake's performance is a special one," said Winchendon coach John Toffey. "Certainly recording all 15 outs via the strikeout is an amazing feat. What I liked most about his performance was the command of his fastball. He is commanding both sides of the plate with a fastball that has been clocked over 90 mph and a plus breaking ball."
