Tilton School picked the right time to play its best baseball of the season. The Rams won six of their final seven games, capped with a 4-3 triumph over New Hampton School to take home the Lakes Region championship.
It’s the fifth league championship for Tilton, which won three straight regular-season titles from 2012–14, as well as tournament titles in 2014 and 2015.
“Our young players simply got better and better as the season went along,” said Tilton head coach Ken Hollingsworth. “Winning (the league title) was definitely a surprise. I’m very proud of the great job these kids did. This was truly a great team win.”
The Rams start six underclassmen, and eight of its 12 roster players are either freshmen or sophomores.
