As summer heats up in the region, New England Baseball Journal’s look at transfers across all NCAA levels does as well.
The COVID-19 pandemic and the rise of the NCAA Transfer Portal have created busy offseasons in college baseball. It is no different so far this year.
Players opting to go into the portal are not required to transfer or guarantee they will transfer, but it leaves the door open — and allows other schools’ coaches to speak with them. Last summer began with more than 3,000 players in the portal, and the trend has continued since.
Our latest look into the portal includes one New England star heading to an SEC power, a local addition to Mike Gambino's first team at Penn State and newcomers to three of the region’s Division 1 teams.
If you know of a New England transfer — from any level — that we have yet to mention, please email the author at jkummins@baseballjournal.com.
