UMass Lowell has promoted Nick Barese to the head coach position that was vacated when Ken Harring resigned at the end of July.
Barese, the former head coach at Merrimack, spent the past two seasons as an assistant to Harring, whose exit came after the school authorized an independent investigation that cleared him from claims of racial discrimination toward a player.
Said athletic director Peter Casey of Barese, “I believe that his prior track record of success as a head coach in the region, coupled with his experiences here in Lowell for the last two seasons have positioned him well to take the helm and hit the ground running."
“I know he will continue to move our program forward.”
