The Cape Cod Baseball League needs no introduction to baseball fans. Those who follow the game know that it is the summertime home to the best collegiate talent in the game.
However, fans might not realize that it’s not just the players working towards their big league dream. Team interns – who work in various capacities like broadcasting, beat writing and scouting – are also hoping to make a name for themselves on this stage.
For Kayla Baptista, a rising sophomore on the University of North Carolina softball team and Wareham Gatemen intern, it is the chance of a lifetime.
“Oh it means everything,” Baptista said. “I have always had a passion for baseball.”
