The Futures Collegiate Baseball League launching and completing its summer season had a major impact throughout the New England region, but the experience meant that much more to the select group of players that got a taste of playing at the college level for the first time.
Unlike many of its fellow summer collegiate leagues, the Futures League has extended roster spots to some of the top rising freshmen from the region and beyond. The 2020 season was no different in that respect.
Some of college baseball’s fresh faces dotted rosters across the six-team league this summer, with the future of Boston College’s program being well represented. The Futures League’s freshman class also included Brockton Rox infielder Jake Gelof, a Delaware native who will be joining his brother, Zack, at the University of Virginia this year.
