Four of New England's top high school and prep prospects in the graduating classes of 2023 and 2024 recently competed at the Area Code Underclass Games at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles. Those players included Bishop Hendricken High pitcher Alex Clemmey (Middletown, R.I.), Dexter Southfield catcher Matt Conte (Andover, Mass.), Greely High pitcher Zach Johnston (North Yarmouth, Maine) and Staples High pitcher Hiro Wyatt (Westport, Conn.).

The annual summer showcase event includes the top 150 underclass players from across the country. The Northeast regional team -- the New York Yankees -- played four games over a three-day stretch from Aug. 12 to 14. A Yankees roster comprised primarily of players from the Northeast finished 1-3 against teams from other regions of the country.

Scouts from all 30 Major League teams as well as top NCAA coaches will be in attendance.

Here’s a look at how the four players from New England performed on the big stage.
