Along with the Area Code Games, the East Coast Pro Showcase is widely recognized as one of the top summer showcase events for incoming high school and prep seniors. Annually, between 80 and 110 players from the event are selected in the MLB Rule 4 Draft.
Yesterday, we revealed the names of eight New England players who earned invitations to the 2021 Area Code Games, to be held Aug. 7-11 at University of San Diego (Calif.). Today, we reveal the names of five New England players who earned invitations to the 2021 East Coast Pro Showcase, to be held Aug. 2-5 at Hoover Met Complex in Hoover, Ala.
The geographical boundaries for each of the elite showcases are slightly different. The Area Code Games' Yankees roster of 28 players includes a majority of players from states along the Eastern Seaboard from Pennsylvania to Canada, along with one player each from Arizona and Wisconsin. The East Coast Pro Showcase's Dodgers roster of 26 players includes exclusively East Coast players from states ranging from Delaware to Canada.
The Northeast region's team at the East Coast Pro Showcase will be coached by Dodgers scout Paul Murphy, who resides in Delaware. The region's Area Code Games squad will be coached by Yankees scout Matt Hyde, who resides in Canton, Mass. Here's a look at the Northeast region's East Coast Pro Showcase roster.
