When we look back on 2021 as New England baseball fans, we'll likely remember it as the year when we started to return to normalcy after COVID-19 caused destruction to all levels of baseball in 2020.
We got back the sport we love at the high school, prep and college levels. We saw the Cape League and NECBL return to action after each league took a one-year hiatus. And we saw more players receive offers from college coaching staffs -- something we took for granted before the pandemic resulted in across-the-board redshirt exemptions and roster crunches.
While baseball -- and life -- was not completely back to normal in 2021, it was better than the previous year. It marked progress.
