Northeast regional scouts have been saying for months that this could be a historic draft for New England players. It turns out they were right.
A total of 15 players from New England were selected in the first 10 rounds of the 2021 MLB Draft -- surpassing the previous record of 12 for the first 10 rounds, set in 1965.
Not only is the New England crop of talent strong at the top this year -- with three first-rounders and three more second-rounders -- but it is also deep. Of the 15 New England natives selected so far, all are expected to sign professional deals. That list includes two high school/prep players as well as 13 players who have at least one year of college eligibility remaining.
