It may seem like a stretch to rank the top 10 prep and high school prospects for the 2021 MLB Draft considering that not one New England player at either of those levels was selected in the 2020 MLB Draft.
However, the 2021 MLB Draft is expected to be a fruitful one for New England's draft-eligible players at every level. With a post-pandemic shift back to a 20-round draft -- up from five rounds in 2020 -- we could see as many as 10 to 12 New England prep and high school players get selected in the 2021 MLB Draft, which will take place from July 11 to 13.
"This happens to be the best draft for the Northeast in my 23 years of doing this," said Detroit Tigers Northeast scouting supervisor Jim Bretz on the New England Baseball Journal Podcast. "This is very unique. Arguably, we've got 10 to 12 high school guys right here in the Northeast who could get drafted."
Here's a list of the top 10 draft-eligible prep and high school players from New England.
