More than 40 MLB Draft prospects will come together for the final time of the summer tomorrow (Friday, Aug. 27) at Fenway Park.
The 13th annual Kelly Rodman Memorial Summer Rivalry Classic will include a collection of New England’s top college and high school prospects, along with select players from California, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. We published a list of 45 players who will be representing the Yankees and Red Sox scout teams in a double-header, with the first game set to start at 1 p.m.
If history is indication, tomorrow's Summer Rivalry Classic will include at least a couple future big-leaguers and first-round picks. In the 13 years of the event, 36 players have gone on to play in the Major Leagues. The number of first-round picks reached 27 with the selection of Benny Montgomery in 2021. Looking back to last season's 2020 Summer Rivalry Classic, 14 players in that game have since signed professional contracts.
Let's take a look at the participants in the 2020 game who have since signed pro deals, the former Summer Rivalry Classic participants who have reached the big leagues, and the 27 first-round picks.
