The 14th annual Kelly Rodman Summer Rivalry Classic brought to a close a summer of elite scouting events throughout New England.
Along with the Area Code Games, East Coast Pro Showcase and Perfect Game WWBA tournaments, the Summer Rivalry Classic is a part of a summer schedule of must-see events for Northeast regional scouts as they prepare for the next year's MLB Draft.
Organized by New York Yankees regional scouting director Matt Hyde and Boston Red Sox regional scouting director Ray Fagnant, the Summer Rivalry Classic pays tribute to Kelly Rodman, one of only three female major league scouts at the time of her death in 2020. Rodman started as a Northeast amateur scout for the Yankees in 2017 and was the only female on the draft floor at the 2019 MLB Draft. She died after a battle with cancer at the age of 44.
The 2022 event included a total of 43 high school and college prospects from New England, as well as New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Florida and Canada. Here are 10 takeaways from the 2022 Summer Rivalry Classic.
