A total of 43 MLB Draft prospects will come together in New England for the final time of the summer tomorrow (Thursday, Aug. 25) at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford, Conn.
The 14th annual Kelly Rodman Memorial Summer Rivalry Classic will include a collection of New England’s top college and high school prospects, along with select players from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Florida and Canada. The 43 players will be split into two teams -- New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox scout squads -- and will play two seven-inning games, with the first scrimmage scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
If history is any indication, the 2022 Summer Rivalry Classic will include at least a few future big-leaguers and first-round picks. In the 13 years of the event, 36 players have gone on to play in the Major Leagues. The number of first-round picks reached 27 with the selection of Ryan Cusick (Sudbury, Mass.) in 2021.
