Four New England natives have been selected to the Northeast regional team's roster for one of the most prestigious national showcase events -- the Area Code Games.
MLB scouts have selected 240 of the top high school prospects in the nation to compete for eight regional teams in a five-day showcase in Long Beach, Calif., from Aug. 8 to 13. Scouts from all 30 Major League teams as well as top NCAA coaches will be in attendance. The tournament serves as the beginning of a year-long interview process culminating with the 2025 MLB Draft.
Many future MLB stars have participated in the Area Code Games during the showcase event's 37-year history, including Clayton Kershaw (2005), Freddie Freeman (2006), Giancarlo Stanton (2006), Gerrit Cole (2007), Bryce Harper (2008), Mike Trout (2008), Mike Yastrzemski (2008), Christian Yelich (2009), Trevor Story (2010), Cody Bellinger (2012), Alex Verdugo (2013), and Bo Bichette (2014, 2015).
