
The 2024 MLB Draft got off to slow start for New England prospects. The first player with local ties did not come off the board until the second round -- 46th overall -- when former Phillips Andover two-way prospect Jonathan Santucci earned a selection by the New York Mets.
That was all she wrote on Sunday, when the first two rounds of the draft were completed. On Monday, nine more New Englanders were selected, starting with Northeastern outfielder Mike Sirota in the third round and finishing with former Pinkerton Academy infielder Brady Day in the 10th.
The final day of the draft will be Tuesday, when MLB teams make selections in the 11th through 20th rounds.
