2026 MLB Draft: New England’s top 20 prospects

New England has the most impressive cast of high school draft prospects in recent memory, with two prep pitchers slated to go in the top few rounds.

Bishop Feehan (Mass.) left-hander Brody Bumila and Greenwich Country Day (Conn.) right-hander Bryce Hill have each clocked 99-plus mph fastballs in the last 12 months. 

The 2026 MLB Draft begins July 11 in Philadelphia as part of MLB’s All-Star Week festivities.

This is the Spring 2026 look at New England’s top 20 prospects for the 2026 MLB Draft.

1. Brody Bumila

Commitment: Texas
LHP, Bishop Feehan
Hometown: Raynham, Mass.
Bats: Left | Throws: Left
Height: 6-9 | Weight: 250

The only question surrounding the hulking left-hander was health, after he did not take the mound in 2025 due to elbow soreness. Bumila appears to have answered the health question after putting together a historic basketball season that saw him lead Bishop Feehan to a state title with massive numbers. In the weeks following the basketball triumph, he clocked a 100-mph fastball off a mound.

2. Bryce Hill

Commitment: Stanford

Hometown: Greenwich, Conn.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 6-5 | Weight: 220

Hill’s fastball topped out at 99 mph at the 2025 Perfect Game 17U WWBA Northeast Championship last June, when he earned MVP Pitcher at the prestigious showcase. He also earned a selection to the 2025 Area Code Games, but opted out. 

3. Mavrick Rizy 

RHP, LSU
Hometown: Fiskdale, Mass.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 6-9 | Weight: 253

The Worcester Academy alumnus is LSU’s most-used relief pitcher for the second year in a row. Rizy has been effective as a high-leverage reliever, posting a 3.31 ERA over 16 ⅓ innings. He has recorded 24 strikeouts while allowing just 10 hits.

4. Matt Conte

C, Wake Forest
Hometown: Andover, Mass.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 6-2 | Weight: 210

The two-time Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year at Dexter Southfield played in each of Wake Forest’s first 30 games, posting a .297 batting average and .904 OPS. He also performed well with the Cape League’s Harwich Mariners last summer, batting .258 in 26 games.

5. Kaiden McCarthy

Commitment: Tennessee
RHP, Vermont Academy
Hometown: Chester, Vt.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 6-0 | Weight: 185

The USA Prime prospect is likely to become Vermont’s highest draft pick since Owen Kellington, a fourth-round pick in 2021. His fastball sat in the high 90s – up to 99 mph – in his first start for Vermont Academy this spring. He committed to Tennessee during the fall, and has since reclassified in the Class of 2026.

6. Connor Fennell 

RHP, Vanderbilt
Hometown: Londonderry, N.H.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 6-1 | Weight: 185

Fennell was the Opening Day starter for Vanderbilt in February after earning Preseason Third Team All-America honors. He made seven starts in February and March, posting a 2-1 record and 4.89 ERA with 52 strikeouts in 38 ⅔ innings. 

7. Dylan Vigue

RHP, Georgia
Hometown: Leominster, Mass.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 6-3 | Weight: 220

The former Groton School flame-thrower had a strong start to his Georgia career after transferring from Michigan. The first-year Bulldog was 3-1 with a 3.03 ERA and 1.15 WHIP through eight appearances, including seven starts. He recorded 36 strikeouts in 29 ⅔ innings.

8. Matt Scott

RHP, Georgia
Hometown: Redding, Conn.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 6-7 | Weight: 245

The Joel Barlow High alum and former member of the USA Collegiate National Team has been effective as a swingman on the Georgia pitching staff. Through six appearances as a starter and long reliever, he had a 5-0 record, 2.14 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. He recorded 35 strikeouts in 21 innings.

9. Evan Blanco

LHP, Tennessee
Hometown: Woburn, Mass.
Bats: Left | Throws: Left
Height: 6-0 | Weight: 195

The Austin Prep alumnus is holding his own as an SEC starter after transferring from Virginia. Through seven starts, he had a 2-2 record, 4.00 ERA, and a 1.19 WHIP. He recorded 46 strikeouts in 36 innings.

10. Vincent Lombardo 

Commitment: UConn
OF, Fairfield Prep
Hometown: Trumbull, Conn.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 6-0 | Weight: 190

The CT Grind prospect’s elite athleticism makes him a legit pro prospect. He was a star for the Fairfield Prep football team last fall, serving as a threat out of the backfield and as a receiver. Last summer, the UConn commit was the lone New England prospect to earn All-Tournament Team at the Area Code Games.

11. Bradley McCafferty

Commitment: Virginia
C, Austin Prep
Hometown: Beverly, Mass.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 6-1 | Weight: 185

The Show New England prospect earned 2025 Massachusetts Gatorade State Player of the Year honors. He also represented Team Massachusetts in the Stinger Sports National Championship Series and was one of five New Englanders selected to represent the Northeast at the Area Code Games.

12. Kyle Kipp

RHP, Boston College
Hometown: Stamford, Conn.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 6-2 | Weight: 200

The Westhill High alum emerged as a legit pro prospect with Brewster on the Cape, winning the John J. Claffey Award as the league’s top New England prospect. He has continued to have success this spring, posting a 3.05 and 1.31 WHIP with 23 strikeouts through 20 ⅔ innings.

13. AJ Colarusso 

LHP, Boston College
Hometown: Leominster, Mass.
Bats: Left | Throws: Left
Height: 6-0 | Weight: 205

The BC ace has been dominant at times this spring, posting a 2-1 record and 3.37 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 34 ⅔ innings. Colarusso can get outs against elite ACC competition, and the Eagles earned wins in six of his first seven starts.

14. Reece Moroney 

INF, Rhode Island
Hometown: Fair Haven, N.J.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 5-11 | Weight: 187

The middle infielder has been Rhode Island’s best hitter, posting a team-leading .392 batting average, .924 OPS, 40 hits, 20 RBI, and four stolen bases. Moroney played in each of Rhode Island’s first 26 games.

15. Nick Wang 

3B, Boston College
Hometown: Newton, Mass.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 6-1 | Weight: 215

Described as a “player-coach” by BC skipper Todd Interdonato, Wang has produced at an elite level on the field after missing much of the 2025 season due to injury. He posted a .336 batting average and team-leading 11 home runs and 38 RBI through 30 games.

16. Juju Stevens

OF, University of Maine
Hometown: Durham, N.C.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 6-0 | Weight: 200

Stevens was a favorite among scouts coming out of Amity Regional (Conn.), before making stops at Missouri and Georgia Southern. He seems to have found a home at Maine, leading the team with a .333 average, 1.053 OPS, and 27 runs scored through 25 games. He also had eight home runs.

17. Gio Colasante 

RHP, Harvard
Hometown: New York, N.Y.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 6-5 | Weight: 225

The two-way prospect earned First Team All-Ivy League as a utility/pitcher and first baseman in 2025. Through March, he led Harvard with an OPS of .888, five home runs and 19 RBI. He also pitched 27 ⅔ innings in six starts, posting a 2-4 record and 4.88 ERA.

18. Jack Arcamone

C, Georgia
Hometown: Trumbull, Conn.
Bats: Left | Throws: Right
Height: 6-1 | Weight: 200

The Fairfield Prep alumnus has performed well as a part-time catcher, posting a .304 average and .834 OPS through 18 games. Despite the numbers, he logged only 46 at-bats through the team’s first 30 games.

19. Charlie Hale

RHP, UConn
Hometown: Brookline, N.H.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 6-2 | Weight: 180

Hale transferred from Endicott after earning 2025 D3 First Team All-America honors and CNE Pitcher of the Year. He has been equally effective at the D1 level, posting a 4-0 record and 1.88 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 38 ⅓ innings.

20. Garrett Larsen 

UTL, Yale
Hometown: Fairfield, Conn.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
Height: 5-9 | Weight: 180

The Fairfield Warde alumnus led Yale in batting average (.365), OPS (.977), hits (31), runs (23), and stolen bases (16) through 22 games. He ranked third in the Ivy League in runs (47) in 2025.
