WESTWOOD, Mass. — It wasn't the prettiest start for Xaverian, falling behind 2-1, but the Hawks came alive to knock off Catholic Memorial, 6-2, in a key Catholic Conference matchup on Wednesday.
Paul McCarthy (Walpole, Mass.) got the win for Xaverian (8-3), throwing six strong innings before Abe Anderson (Middleboro, Mass.) closed it out. The Hawks have won three straight after dropping two in a row to Taunton and St. John's Shrewsbury. Brady Hargraves (Natick, Mass.) went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base to help lead the offense.
Brett Mulligan took the loss for CM (6-5), giving up five runs (two earned) over four innings with five strikeouts and a pair of walks. Liam Fitzmaurice threw two innings in relief for the Knights, giving up one earned run, one hit and two walks. Derek Then went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
