Over the past several months, I have been reminding parents to "check the new 2018 bat standards before purchasing a bat" in order to make sure it is compliant for the upcoming season.
"You would hate to buy a new bat and not be able to use it in a game," I cautioned parents.
And then on Christmas morning, I noticed I purchased two bats that now need to be returned.
The new bat standards can be a bit confusing for the more than 3 million youth baseball players who play Little League Baseball, American Amateur Baseball Congress, Cal Ripken Baseball, Dixie Youth Baseball, and Pony Baseball. AAU Baseball has not adopted the news standards nor will the new measure impact softball players.
