BOSTON -- A win-loss record doesn’t always tell the whole story.
Between the changing structure of their season in the Colonial Athletic Association, multiple COVID pauses and injuries, it has been a year of challenges for the Northeastern Huskies.
Through it all, the Huskies have turned in a 36-10 record -- including a 20-game win streak spanning into the second-to-last weekend of the CAA North Division schedule -- and the top hitting, pitching and defense in the conference on the way to clinching their first-ever tournament championship with Sunday’s 11-10 win at UNCW.
“We really only had a few positive (COVID) cases, but all it took was one to lose a weekend and then another,” said seventh-year head coach Mike Glavine (Billerica, Mass.), whose team will play No. 19 and Big Ten champion Nebraska in the NCAA Fayetteville (Ark.) Regional at 8 p.m. Friday.
