Late in May, Red Sox left fielder Andrew Benintendi found himself in the midst of a seven-game hitless streak.
It sure wasn’t ideal as the club looked to make its move up the American League East standings, but Benintendi — who entered the season as the No. 1 prospect in all of baseball, according to Baseball America — toughed it out. His journey so far has been real fun to watch.
"Guys like him, they need to go through something," said Victor Rodriguez, the Red Sox’ assistant hitting coach. "And I think it’s going to help him become a better hitter and find out about himself. … That’s something you have to go through to learn."
