
The 2024 MIAA Tournament will be remembered for the dominance of the Catholic Conference, and BC High’s D1 championship certainly fits with that theme.
Riding consistently dominant pitching from players like Liam Kineen and Sam Keene, BC High cruised through that state tournament as the No. 1 seed. However, BC High was not the only Catholic Conference team to make a deep run.
Of the four semifinalists in D1, three were Catholic Conference schools with BC High, runner-up St. John’s Shrewsbury and Xaverian. In D3, another Catholic Conference school – St. Mary’s – made the championship game.
That came after an extended stretch in which Hockomock League schools dominated the state tournament. South Shore rivals Franklin and Taunton faced off in the last two D1 championship games, with Taunton coming out on top both times.
