The next two years of Blake Chapman’s life changed in a span of about six seconds this summer.
More like 6.31 seconds, to be exact.
In August, Chapman — who recently started his senior year at Simsbury (Conn.) High School — clocked the fastest 60-yard dash time in the nation among incoming seniors at the Perfect Game Northeast Showcase at the New England Baseball Complex in Northboro, Mass.
Just like that, Chapman’s future plans shifted in an attempt to set him up for what he hopes will be a lengthy future in baseball.
