Bob DeFelice and the bonds of Bentley

By Joshua KumminsMarch 1, 2018

Nobody would have blamed Bob DeFelice for stopping to think just a week before he was due to start his 50th season as the only head coach in Bentley University history with a three-game series at the University of Tampa.

He could have been reflecting about the 457 players he’s had the opportunity to coach, the fact that man had yet to walk on the moon when his Bentley career began in 1969, or any number of other facts and figures that longtime sports information director Dick Lipe could throw his way to put the milestone into proper historical perspective.

But that’s not who he is.

Just as he has preached to the Falcons over five decades, the Winthrop, Mass., native was just focused on the task at hand. That’s baseball, the season ahead, and just becoming a better coach each day.
