It's been a busy week of interviews with national media outlets for Brown freshman Olivia Pichardo, after it was announced on Monday that the Queens, N.Y., native will be the first woman on the roster of a D1 college baseball team.
Pichardo has known the media attention was coming since Brown head coach Grant Achilles announced to the team that Pichardo made the spring roster in October. Pichardo, a 5-foot-7 pitcher and outfielder, received cheers and applause from her Brown teammates at the time of Achilles' announcement.
Pichardo walked on to Brown's team in September following tryouts and a grueling assessment process. After impressing throughout the fall, she made the final cut in October.
Pichardo sat down for an interview with New England Baseball Journal to share her thoughts on making baseball history.
