Kids love summer, and one of the big reasons is they don’t have to go to school. They can be outside in the nice weather and do things they enjoy, such as play baseball all day.
Baseball, however, is the perfect reason to head to a school campus in the summer. Some great opportunities await young players as many schools — especially colleges and prep schools — in the region host summer baseball camps.
"We just renovated and redid all of our athletic fields," said Dave Cataruzolo, the head baseball coach at The Roxbury Latin School, who also runs the camp at his school. "We added an indoor athletic facility, which is an ice hockey rink for about five months of the year and is turf the remaining times. Outside of the hockey season, it’s a great indoor facility for our fall and spring teams. We have a brand-new baseball field, which is all artificial turf. We can play in not-so-nice weather conditions, which is necessary in New England."
