The stars of tomorrow will shine tonight, indeed. America’s Pastime is back on Cape Cod. The venerable Cape Cod Baseball League returns for its 101st season beginning Saturday.
Under the direction of new commissioner John Castleberry, the league commences a 40-game regular-season slate that runs through Sunday, August 4. The Cape League All-Star Game will return to Falmouth’s Guv Fuller Field for the first time since 2003 on Saturday, July 27.
As is typical in the summer landscape, rosters are fluid and change especially throughout the first few weeks as Division 1 programs finish their College World Series runs. Thus, not all players will be on their respective teams from the start and many will begin the summer on temporary contracts.
Click here for a list of all New England natives and college players on Cape League rosters as of the afternoon of June 14. Per new league bylaws, contract designations for permanent and temporary players will not be assigned until noon on opening day. The first of our two-part series of Cape League previews covers the West Division, including the two-time defending champion Bourne Braves.
