Postseason baseball has arrived in the Cape Cod League. The Bourne Braves are setting out to win their third straight championship, but the playoff action begins on Tuesday with the new wrinkle of a single-elimination game in the opening round.
Like a summer ago, Bourne enters this postseason run as a low seed and will face the West Division-winning Hyannis Harbor Hawks with their season on the line. The top seed on the Cape belongs to the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox, who won the East side outright for the second straight summer.
All eight remaining teams include at least one New England player, many of whom recently got to the Cape after playing the majority of their seasons in other summer leagues. None of them, however, have more local talent than the Harwich Mariners, who did not seal their playoff fate until the very last day of the regular season.
